Japanese beef bowls

Japanese food any one???

Gyudon bowls

Easiest japanese food to make and the most delicious to eat!!!

There wasnt even a morsel left!

And it was a good 5 bowls I made!

So usually Japanese food uses mirin but J was looking for an alcohol free replacement so after some google help ,rice vinegar and sugar seems are a good substitute!


  • 2 tbsp sesame oil

  • 500gm beef slice it very thinly

  • Marinate beef in:

    • 2tbsp soy sauce

    • 2tbsp rice vinegar

    • 1tsp sugar

  • 2 onions, thinly sliced

  • 2 red bell pepper, thinly sliced

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1/2 beef stock or water

  • eggs one per bowl

  • 2 cups cooked white rice,

  • chopped green onion,

  • sesame seeds


INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Heat the sesame oil in a large skillet

  2. Add in the sliced onions and cook stirring often, until caramelized.

  3. Add in your beef with marinade and cook until the liquid starts to dry ,then add brown sugar and cook more so beef starts to turn darker

  4. Stir in your rice vinegar , soy sauce, and beef stock /water and cook until the mixture has reduced almost dried ,about 15 minutes.

  5. cook your eggs separately as you like keep the yolk a bit soft/runny

  6. Fill your bowl with rice, add on the beef , add egg. Sprinkle green onion and sesame seeds to garnish!
