Qeema aloo/minced beef and potatoes curry

  • Qeema 1kg

  • Oil 1/2-3/4 cup

  • 1 large or 2 med onion thinly sliced

  • Green chillies7-8

  • Garlic 5 cloves minced

  • Ginger 1 inch minced

  • Tomatoes 4-5diced

  • Potatoes 2 diced

  • 1 -11/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2tsp curry powder-optional

  • 1/2tsp turmeric

  • Coriander powder21/2 tsp

  • Dried fenugreek leaves/methi 1tbsp

  • Whole spices

7-8 cloves

6 pods green cardamom

4 pods black cardamom

10 black peppercorns

2 bay leaves

2tsp cumin seeds

1 med cinnamon stick

For garnish:

green or red chillies,fresh cilantro,julienned ginger

Cooking:

  • Heat oil and fry onion till golden

  • Add the meat and ginger garlic and all whole spices

  • Fry till meat browned and oil separates

  • Add all powdered spices and green chillies , fry few minutes add 1-2cups water ,cover and cook 25 minutes

  • Add potatoes and fenugreek and fry2 minutes ,cover and cook 20 minutes or till potatoes cooked through add more water if needed while cooking

  • Cook till oil separates

  • Put in serving dish and put your garnishes on it!

  • Enjoy
